Medford Senior Center in Medford and Southern Oregon
The Medford Senior Center has been a self supporting agency since it’s inception in the 1950’s. Unlike other Senior Centers in the Rogue Valley the building is owned by the Center and is operated by a Board of Directors comprised of volunteers. The Center relies on fundraisers, donations and grants to pay the utility bills, usual legal expenses, landscaping, custodial needs, kitchen staff and the supplies needed to serve lunch Monday – Friday.
The recent two year partnership with the City of Medford provides professional recreation staff to oversee day to day activities, add programs, manage facility use and improvements. The Center continues to manage it’s own funds and pay it’s own bills as it did before. The City is providing a $122,000 facility improvement grant via the Community Development Block Grant program. The funds will be used to improve access to the building, level out walkways, replace flooring and provide a wheelchair accessible restroom.
